The Challenges We're
Built to Solve

Uganda's FFV sector faces real structural barriers. HortiFresh works systematically with partners and government to address each one — turning obstacles into opportunities.

Sector Challenges
Infrastructure Deficits — Poor roads, cold storage, and unreliable energy supply disrupt the fresh produce value chain.
Limited Finance — High interest rates and lack of agriculture-tailored financial products constrain growth.
Pests & Climate Change — Erratic weather patterns and inadequate pest management systems threaten yields.
International Standards — Stringent GlobalGAP, EU regulations and non-tariff barriers limit access to premium markets.
HortiFresh Solutions
Infrastructure Advocacy — Lobbying for investment in roads, cold chains, irrigation, and energy with GoU and development partners.
Financial Access — Connecting members to affordable credit, insurance products, and business financing solutions.
Capacity Building — Training on GAPs, safe agrochemical use, SPS, food safety, traceability, and climate-resilient practices.
Certification & Branding — Supporting GlobalGAP, MRL compliance, and Ugandan FFV branding to compete in premium export markets.

What Drives
Our Work

Every initiative at HortiFresh is rooted in core commitments — to the land, to our members, and to Uganda's long-term economic future in fresh produce.

01 —
Inclusivity

We welcome exporters, producers, input dealers, CBOs and service providers alike — every link of the value chain has a seat at the table.

02 —
Sustainability

From eco-friendly farming and e-mobility for produce collection to long-term sector resilience — we build for the next generation.

03 —
Collaboration

By bridging government, development partners, the private sector, and farmers, we multiply impact across Uganda's entire FFV value chain.
